When Peggy Jones, DLP Property Manager for the Iris Glen Apartment community in Conyers, GA, first heard about the DLP Real Estate Capital grand opening celebration, she knew it would be a great opportunity to attend. She wanted to meet her fellow team members, those whom she spoke with everyday, and tour the new office space.  However, when she found out about the fundraising aspect of the event for Second Harvest, she went into, as she says, “collection mode.”

Peggy comments, “When I found out that we would be fundraising to help feed the communities of the Lehigh Valley, I decided to start a collection with all of our residents and anyone else who wanted to help. Before I knew it, there were over 200 items being donated by our generous folks and that’s when I stopped counting.”

Peggy, her husband Keenan, and their adult daughter Lisa packed up the food items and started out in their truck, heading for Baltimore, MD where they stayed overnight. They even stopped along the way to purchase a tarp to cover the donations that filled their pick-up truck since it started to rain. They arrived in Bethlehem just as the celebration kicked off and quickly filled-up the donation table.

Peggy continues, “I wouldn’t have missed this event for the world! The new headquarters is beautiful, clean, and open. I was able to meet everyone on the team and it was a wonderful experience. And, I was glad to help Second Harvest.”

After the event concluded, Peggy and her family hopped back in their truck and headed back home to GA, stopping again in Baltimore, where Peggy is originally from. It was a whirlwind trip for Peggy and she was back home by the end of the weekend.

Don commented, ”Having a team member like Peggy is extremely rewarding and humbling. I was so grateful when she told me about her plan to not only drive up with her family for the grand opening, but to start a food drive collection of her own and then to deliver it all at our event was phenomenal. Peggy is truly one-of-a-kind and I value her dedication and generosity.”
